_Human is a filmic instillation of a sculpture by artist Donald G. Rodney, My Mother. My Father. My sister. My Brother (1996-7). This sculpture is comprised of a sheet of Rodneys skin, dressmaking pins, and scotch tape, and was crafted during Rodney’s stay at Kings College Hospital, London, before he died from a pulmonary embolism, making this artwork his last finished piece. _Human revisits Rodney’s work, as well as the intersection of themes of police and state violence, racism, and black and indigenous ontologies, to create a meditative reflection on the legacies of race and genetic inheritance, chance, and mortality.
